Focus at Work

A recent article, 5 Totally Fresh Ways to Stay Focused at Work by Aja Frost says that it takes approximately twenty three minutes for your brain to refocus every time you get distracted— which means work distractions will leave you exhausted and unproductive.

Here are three tips to help you stay focused at work.

Be watchful of what distracts you.

Identify your productivity-killers and once you’ve identified them, arrange your schedule so that you can complete a particular task in a timely manner. For example, if researching for prospects on Facebook constantly leads to distraction, do it in three short sessions over the day instead of one long session. It’s much easier to avoid distractions when you’re aware that there are other tasks to attend to.

Always remind yourself about your goal.

Work will always entail a lot of important but boring tasks. For instance, emailing and following up with clients to remind them of the upcoming meetings in meeting space Philadelphia can be very tedious, but if  you look at the larger picture, securing the meeting offers you the chance to move forward with clients and sales, which means you’ll be moving forward as a business. Let that motivate you!

Take short breaks at regular intervals.

This simply means taking a pause in what you’re doing.  For instance, if you have a private space in the office similar to executive suites Philadelphia, then you can spend a few moments to meditate and reflect.  Or perhaps you can have a quick walk outside the office to take some fresh air.  Short breaks refresh and rejuvenate you from a taxing day.
